Hospital installs new generators

Shoreline Medical Center at Chestertown offers installed two new sophisticated emergency generators to provide energy for the facility in case of a good outage.
The diesel power generators replace two older versions. They are larger and more effective than the machines they substitute.
The replacement project, that costs more than $180, 000, began Aug. 7 along with delivery of the first power generator by Johnson & Systems Inc. of Baltimore. Lightweight now fueled and attached to the hospital’s electrical system. The 2nd unit was delivered as well as installed in mid-September.
“Power interruption is always a danger due to storms or mishaps bringing down power lines or even system overload during severe heat or cold, ” said Beth Copp, creating operations manager for the medical center and for Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Chestertown.
“The new generators is an important investment to ensure the security of our patients, visitors and also staff for years to come, ” said Gary Poole, movie director of LC support solutions for Shore Regional Wellness.
The hospital’s maintenance group tests each generator once per month to assure the equipment’s preparedness. With regular maintenance, every generator should have a useful living of about 20 years, Copp stated.
