Famous Parisian landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower have been increasingly covered, protected in recent years by an oppressive smog. City officials possess placed the blame chiefly upon diesel exhaust, widening the Europewide attack on the energy.
To make good on guarantees to clear the air, Mayor Patrice Hidalgo convinced the city authorities earlier this year to suspend diesel vehicles made prior to 2011 from the French capital's streets by the end of the 10 years. She hasn't ruled out blocking diesel engines from the street entirely and backs electrical and hybrid cars for future years.
"What's at stake here is the wellness of Parisians, " stated the mayor in e-mailed comments to Bloomberg. "I will never negotiate on their health and fitness. "
