Gas and Steam Engine Show returns

On both days, visitors can see various gas and steam engines, a demonstration of the museum’s saw mill, and visit historic buildings and displays.

POINT PLEASANT — The West Virginia State Farm Museum will host its annual Spring Gas and Steam Engine Show this weekend.

In addition to those several types of gas and steam engines on display, special features will include an antique tractor pull starting at 1 p.m. Saturday on the museum’s grounds. On Sunday, a church service will take place at 9 a.m. and a gospel sing at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. For both days, the historic buildings and displays will be open, as well as the saw mill and Country Kitchen and Country Store. This free event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the museum just north of Point Pleasant.

Visitors will also find log cabins and an early farmhouse, an operational 19th century blacksmith shop, turn-of-the-century doctor’s and newspaper offices, the first Lutheran Church west of the Allegheny Mountains, and more.

This is one of the first events of the year for the farm museum, which celebrates the history and culture of the area. On the grounds are buildings of historical value that have been moved and rebuilt on the property across from the Mason County Fairgrounds.
